Sam Mendes Helming Untitled Comedy
Sam Mendes will next direct an untitled contemporary comedy for Focus Features in March, reports Variety. The low-budget project, previously titled "This Must Be the Place," is based on an original screenplay by husband-and-wife team Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida, best known as novelists and magazine editors. It follows a young couple's journey around the U.S. as they search for somewhere to put down roots and raise the baby they are expecting. No casting has yet been confirmed.

SKELTON AVENGES WILLIAMS LOSS
Matt Skelton claimed the Commonwealth heavyweight title from Danny Williams with a unanimous points victory at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. The Bedford man picked up a 117-112 (twice) 115-114 verdict to reverse his split decision loss in their first fight four months ago and put his name up for a future world title shot. It was a contest which never quite hit the heights of that previous high-octane, foul-filled brawl but the judges clearly saw Skelton outworking his opponent to force the victory. Williams himself slouched back to his corner looking like the beaten fighter at the final bell although there were many in the arena who believed the champion had held onto his crown. Skelton celebrated the announcement by sinking to the canvas in celebration, while disappointed Williams returned to his dressing room to mull over his fighting future. More>>

Survivors are three daughters, Joyce Carter and Nancy Tucker of Crossett and Becky Coody of Bastrop, LA; eight grandchildren, Stacey Cider of Coraopolis, PA; Tammy Carter, Tina Herrington, Tim Tucker, Coby Graves of Crossett, Trent Carter of Magnolia, and Kayne and Caleb Coody of Bastrop; and eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Timothy and Kaitlin Cider, Whitney and Courtney Herrington, and Tucker, Thomas and Jaci Tucker. Funeral services were planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, in the First United Methodist Church of Crossett with Revs. Larry Williams, Gayle Riles and Danny Roberts officiating. Pallbearers were to the Trent and Todd Carter, Tim Tucker, Kayne and Caleb Coody, Morris Herrington, Glen Cider and Rodney Graves.
