Leitchfield Police Officer Kevin Smith responded to a call at 3:20 a.m. concerning a Direct Expediting truck, based out of Ohio, that wrecked on South Clinton Street.

Smith said the trailer made a wrong turn on East Main Street, and tried to navigate at the corner of South Clinton and East Main.

"The driver sideswiped a utility pole, the right front wheel of the tanker dropped off the side of a retaining wall and ruptured the fuel tank on his truck," explained Smith.

The Leitchfield Fire Department and the Department of Emergency Services were contacted for containment of the spill. Between 50 and 100 gallons of diesel fuel were released. More>>
