  • ( ) Healing Our World Commentary: Is Preaching to the Choir a Waste of ...

With the onset of the New Year, it is important to examine and reassess our activities. After 180 Healing Our World commentaries, it is important for me to examine what I have been doing for the last five years with these writings.

A comment from a reader of my weekly thoughts who has enjoyed Healing Our World recently expressed a concern that helped me focus on why I do what I do. He feared that I might be "preaching to the choir," a phrase used to suggest that only those who already hold my views are part of the audience. This phrase is, I think, an oversimplification. There may not be nor may there ever have been a choir to preach to.

First are the gifts we've already opened -- either because we got a sneak peek or because they're in theaters already. We've got a few we've shaken, and, though they seem promising, we're not sure about . More>>

  • ( ) More direct flights to Bangladesh

Rules for operation of air services between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were significantly liberalised at the Bilateral Air Services Negotiations between the two countries at the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority Headquarters in Dhaka recently.

Previous operations of SriLankan Airlines to Bangladesh commenced in July 2000 were suspended in July 2001. Under the new arrangement, the frequency of passenger operations by airlines of both countries have been increased from the existing two to seven flights per week per destination.

Both countries will also be able to designate more than one carrier on such services between Colombo and Dhaka as well as Colombo and Chittagong.

The existing fifth freedom right for carriage of third country passenger traffic - Katmandu for Sri Lanka carriers and Male for Bangladesh carriers will remain unchanged. More>>
